...Have a Mass said for a loved one?

"A great Doctor of the Church, St. Anselm declares that a single Mass offered for oneself during life may be worth more than a thousand celebrated for the same intention after death. St. Leonard of Port Maurice supports this statement by saying that one Mass before death may be more profitable than many after it."  Susan Tassone

You know the Mass intentions a the back of the bulletin? And the person we pray for during the Prayers of the Faithful (petitions)? Those are Mass intentions. The Mass is one form of prayer, so all of us at Mass are especially praying for that special intention.

So how can I specify a Mass intention? Call (773 327 8955), email (office@stjosaphatparish.org) or stop by the Parish Office. Select an available Mass, and specify the name of the person that needs prayers. Maybe a friend has a surgery scheduled, perhaps a relative has just passed away. You can have a Mass said for someone or in memory of them.  The office staff will prepare a card for you to give to the person or family of the intention. A $20 donation is suggested.  You can leave a check at the parish office, or make your donation on Give Central, selecting the "Mass Intention" fund.
