...Host Hospitality?

St. Josaphat, in the spirit of being a welcoming Catholic community, offers "Hospitality" after 10 am Family Masses and other special masses. "Hospitality" gives a chance for parishioners and guests to mingle at the back of church and share in coffee, juice, and goodies.

Family Masses are scheduled about once every three weeks during the school year, and these masses are indicated on the parish calendar. A St. Josaphat School and/or Religious Education class "hosts" the Family Mass. This means that students from the class welcome mass-goers at the entrances, bring up the gifts, and read the 1st and 2nd Readings (4th Grade and above.) Their families also provide the goodies for Hospitality and provide volunteers to set up, serve, and clean up.

At these masses, donations of bread, lunchmeat, cheese, ziplocs, paper bags, snacks, socks and t-shirts are accepted for the Homeless Outreach Program.

1) Suggested Goodies for Hospitality

The parish provides the coffee* & accouterments, cups, small plates, napkins, & disposable tablecloths.

Volunteers are asked to provide:

• 350-400 Donut Holes
• 12 Bagels Cut into 4, (cream cheese/knife optional)
• 4 pints of washed Strawberries
• 3 lbs of washed Grapes, cut into sprigs of 4-5
• quart of Half & Half optional (CoffeeMate powder is stored in the Beverage bin)
• 128 oz of Apple Juice

For an average 10 am Family Mass, these goodies will be sufficient. Leftovers will be donated to the Homeless Outreach.  If you are planning Hospitality for a regular 10am mass, a little over 1/2 this amount is needed.  If you are planning Hospitality for the 8am or Noon masses, about 1/4 of this amount is needed.  For the 5pm Mass Hospitality, instead of breakfast fare, wine, cheese, crackers and cookies are provided.  Contact the Parish Office for amounts.

Cut up fruit/fruit trays are not recommended. Forks are not provided.
